Another week, another fresh batch of great podcast recommendations! For each edition of Podcasts We’re Listening To we bring you the absolute best shows we’ve heard over the past week.

In a nice change there’s no murder mysteries or Trump in our suggestions this week- just great pieces of fun and storytelling.

The Venture

Kill Rock Stars: We Wanted To Change Everything

The latest branded podcast from Gimlet Creative features a team up with Virgin Atlantic to introduce us to the innovators, artists and risk takers behind pioneering businesses.

The Venture is brilliantly hosted by Ashley Milne-Tyte and comes with all the great audio storytelling you’d expect from a Gimlet show.

The first episode of the show chronicles the rise of indie rock record label Kill Rock Stars, and features interviews with Slim Moon, Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher.

Oh No Ross and Carrie

The End Times (Part 4): Mark of the Beast Edition

Our favourite investigators of the spooky, occulty, and culty- Ross and Carrie continue their lectures at Amazing Facts in a brilliant episode of Oh No Ross and Carrie.

This week our intrepid duo learn about 19th century prophetess Ellen White, uncover the meaning of 666, and finally get round to finding out what the Mark of the Beast is.

Strap on your tinfoil hats, brush up on your Latin, and enjoy one of our favourite Maximum Fun shows as Ross and Carrie await the end times.

Be a Dick.

Episode 3: Joel Comm Does Good Stuff

Marc Ensign is a Dick. That’s capital D Dick, after a guy with the same name who showed Marc how to become a better human being.

And that’s the story that the Be a Dick podcast tells. Each episode shares the tale of someone being a Dick to share and inspire good vibes, good ideas and good deeds.

This week’s episode features Joel Comm, his TedX talk, being authentic, giving advice, and the brilliant initiative that is Do Good Stuff.

On The Ledge

Episode six: pots

One of the great things about podcasting is how the medium allows us to embrace the niche. With that in mind, each week we try to highlight one podcast that might not be for everyone, but that’s an awesome show nonetheless.

Jane Perrone, gardening editor at The Guardian hosts On The Ledge, a podcast all about houseplants and indoor horticulture. And sure, a houseplant podcast might not sound like your cup of tea, but it’s Jane’s charming presentation that makes the show one that’s genuinely interesting- even if you never thought potted plants could be something you’re into.

The latest episode of On The Ledge is a fascinating (no really, it is) lesson in the containers we use to keep indoor plants in. Dr Catherine Horwood guests for a history lesson you didn’t know you needed.

Truth & Movies

#1: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

Another awesome new show we’ve loved this week comes from Little White Lies and James Richardson.

Truth & Movies is a great audio extension of the long-running film magazine, which this week tackles Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Lady Macbeth and Fast & Furious 8.

Alongside LWLies editors David Jenkins and Adam WoodwardJames Richardson‘s new podcast is a movie review show with that manages to pull of in-depth movie discussion without taking itself too seriously. 5 5 5
