Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi become the latest podcast hosts to make it to TV as the visual successor to Throwing Shade premieres tonight (January 17) on TV Land.

In the host’s own words, the show takes a weekly look at the issues important to ladies and gays, and treats them with much less respect than they deserve.

Throwing Shade, which joined the Maximim Fun network in 2012, has grown in popularity as Gibson and Safi lend their comedic and scrutinising gaze to issues of politics and pop culture.

The TV show appears to follow in the same vein, but the visual element should really add to the sketches, impressions and interviews that make the podcast so popular.

Premiering only days before Donald Trump’s inauguration, it seems almost certain that the first episode will be politics heavy. Or as Gibson and Safi put it in the latest TV spot, the show will feature perverted leftish propaganda, blatant themes of equality and really gay cakes.

Throwing Shade isn’t the only Maximum Fun show making the leap into TV. My Brother, My Brother and Me, from Justin, Travis and Griffin McElroy premieres on Seeso on February 23.

While those in the US will be able to start watching immediately, it was announced in last week’s Throwing Shade that fans in the rest of the world will have to wait until season one is over.

Throwing Shade premieres tonight (Wednesday 17th) at 10:30/9:30c on TV Land. The podcast is available from Maximum Fun or wherever you download podcasts from.
